it is art fair time once again
and we start out strong
babies v and r bouncing along
and hoping all our wishes come true
wandering through the streets
seeing all the colors
and people
and dogs with hats
and statues that move
and twirly
and painty
and beautiful
shiny things
and dancers
swaying and bending
and smelling
the spicy kabobs
and licking
the sugar
off
the elephant ears
and
hearing
drums booming
and
touching
all kinds of everything.
and then
it is time for a break
on the diag
a quiet oasis
right in the middle of it all
with a bottle and a blanket and a weary smile
and with the hug of a tree
much bigger than me
and then
you reach your limit
and you find
your very own
secret and happy place
and
your hopeful wish
is
to go home
once again.

We’re in Bangor, ME now. We have lots of fairs but not art fairs ……… Common Ground in Unity is a good one for all things Maine-ish!

Oh, so we’ve changed places. I’ve moved to Ann Arbor, and moved away, 3 separate times, I think the last move to Chicago sealed it. I like the big city too much. Plus I grew up on Lake MI, up north, and I missed it too much when I lived in AA.

i was born in chicago, moved back to the detroit area when i was just 2, and moved to ann arbor when i was 40, and i love it here, though if i was to live in any big city it would be chicago )
