on what

had to be

the most

hopeful day

of the entire year

january first

new year’s day

first day

of resolutions kept

the energy palpable

 electricity in the air

and sweat

and

postive thinking

and vim

and vigor

(a crack team of synchronized re-enactors)

with enthusiasm

brimming over

and cheering

and

a shared

spirit

 we all

worked hard

while we

watched the rose bowl parade together

celebrated

our own

new coach’s

long-awaited

return home

unnamed

and

each of us

believed

and

hoped

for our

own reasons

that

this was

just

the beginning

of

wonderful changes

coming into

our lives

at least for this day.

  1. Yay, Jim Harbaugh…Loved him when he played here (well there in Mich but here will always mean Mich where sports are concerned) not so much at his antics while he coached the niners…he has his dream job…may he bring integrity back to U of M. Happy New Year, Beth.

  2. I enjoyed your poem! I think the decision to exercise is probably the number one or among the top resolutions each year. I know it is always mine, which tells you that it didn’t last from the year before.
