even the fairies
have settled in
for a long
winter’s nap
still tucked in
covered
by
a soft
blanket of snow
with
just
a
lemon feather
and
a few
festive trappings
above
reminding us
of
the spring
below
and
yet
to come.

“perhaps I am a bear, or some hibernating animal underneath,
for the instinct to be half asleep all winter is so strong in me.”

I know how you feel. I think everyone is done with the ice and snow this year, even those of us that like it. This is so peaceful. 🙂

The instinct to be half asleep is strong in me as well in the winter! Spring is just around the corner! ❤

The quote has it right. I’m sluggish all winter and rather sleep more than in spring, summer, or fall.

I’m not sure about the fairies, but there is a squirrel that’s settled into the squirrel feeder (it has a hinged top) and seems determined not to come out again till spring.

Charming verse, as always, and the scene looks much more wintery than anything we have now (UK) where signs of Spring are appearing by the hour. I love the sense of optimism and renewel at this time of year

I remember the snow and bitter cold so well. Can’t say that I miss it now that I’m in a much more temperate climate. 40 degrees feels chilly enough for me. I’ve become such a weather wimp! 😉
