at the coffee shop
many wander in
grab a beverage
sit a while
relaxing
thinking
writing
reading
studying
working
texting
calling
chatting
waiting
getting away from it all
passing the time
it’s comfortable
being here
even
if
you
are
alone
all
in this one place
at this one time
and yet
they come here to be together.
individually, we are one drop. together, we are an ocean.

I have found out through going places alone, that i am an incredibly awesome person to hang out with.

A wonderful observation: not to be alone.<3 ❤
I often look around a coffee shop when people sit alone and wonder if they are lonely. Sometimes it's obvious, other times not.

Yes, it can be either, and regardless, it’s a place they can come to share a space )

There is nothing like a coffee shop where you feel you can go be by yourself with a bunch of strangers.

Hey! You wrote a good piece about the honorable longings of individuals to connect with each other. There is also a longing amongst us to find a place to go, and sit, and think, and have a good cup of Jo.

It’s true. It’s a rare Starbucks that doesn’t feel somehow cozy – it’s the smell, I think, along with a big dose of no expectations. I’ve started to take my laptop out with me so when I have breaks in the action, I can go sit somewhere. I like it.

I enjoy going into small towns on trips and stopping by to see the “locals” or in college towns, “townies” in coffee shops. There usually are the regulars who may be retired and they will share stories and when you want to know where to go or what to see, they are the experts, Beth!
I like how you can wander off topic when you see a post about coffee shops. Everyone puts their 2 cents in 🙂

sigh – afraid I can’t help feeling melancholic viewing single folk (including myself) sat in a coffee bar or other (each wrapped in our own thoughts/memories), being part of a ‘crowd’, but not really – killing some time in the company of familiar strangers 😦

Really not sad to get out and share a space rather than sitting home alone –

A question that most always should be answered with a “no, please do” at a food counter, Beth: “Mind if I sit here?” Great and warming post, my friend. ❤

Ack! I want to set up the folks from the first two photos. Let’s introduce them. Perhaps a romance will bloom! 🙂
I was watching an older couple in a restaurant today and snagging them for a future story. I guess we’re both in that habit!
Thanks,
Paige

Oh wow this is so good! So true too! Last time in the coffee shop I had a room all to myself and I worked all day there! I thought maybe I should leave but the peaceful quiet and the smell of coffee kept me there! 😀 This is wonderful!
