Blushing here because I do not really know him but if you like him I know with certainty that he is a writer worth reading and a person of note. Ah well, that’s another book to add to the kindle queue. Never mind, you can never have enough good book recommendations
No worries, peter. Rod wrote mostly for television. He had strong political and social views and was censored until he turned to sci-fi to convey his messages and then was left alone. If you ever have the chance watch one of his twilight zone old episodes. Brilliant !
His story is a very interesting one. He originally was censored for his political messages and thoughts on humanity, social issues, etc. He decided to instead tell his messages via the sci-fi genre, where there were no limits and the censors didn’t always get his message. They left him alone after that –
Should I be surprised, Beth? Your artistry with imagination, and your travels outside the box … Cool post. I’m flying out to Lake Michigan area. Maybe by breathing in some of the air, there, I will be blessed with some of your creativity. Actually, maybe not. It doesn’t work that way. BUT, I can use some TZ imagination.
Actually, I never knew he wrote; I guess I always thought he was just the host. My favorite: the beautiful girl being operated on by the pig-faced doctors so that she will look better to society.
Rod’s brother Phil lived in Syracuse, Beth, and I met him at a film festival because of course he was not only a buff but a backer. And I thought: Wow. Your brother was so dang great.

I used to look forward to his show every week. He died way too young! A proud member of the 11th A/B Div. during WWII.

Loved his stuff – and the TV show. It fit in well with the Heinlein, Asimov, Bear, etc that I used to devour.

OH Beth, I loved the t.v. show, his way of imparting true meaning to each episode in his calm announcer voice. 🙂
