it’s national pencil day!

roald dahl’s favorite pencil was the dixon ticonderoga –

every morning he would sharpen six pencils

with an electric pencil sharpener and said

when all six needed sharpening again

he knew he’d been writing for about two hours.

  1. Dixon Ticonderogas are the best! Like most writers, I work almost exclusively on a computer, but when I’m stuck I always sharpen up my pencil (though I prefer the hand cranked variety) and grab a loose leaf notebook page. That usually does the trick. And now I know I’m in good company!

  2. I did not know that about Mr. Dahl. However, as a pencil fan, I am pleased he likes Ticonderoga (I love them! And, you can buy them in bulk at Costco!!); though, my all time favorite (and more expensive) are Blackwings.
