met a friendly irishman
in line
at the first airport
with an accent
who was
going my way
we had
many hours
of
travel adventure
ahead of us
through
flight delays
canceled flights
missed connections
route changes
airline changes
seat changes
itinerary changes
re-ticketing
running to gates
taking shuttles
sitting on the tarmack
trying to find lost luggage
sharing
food
and
beers
and
stories
and
laughs
and
names of
places to visit
each
making our way
to the magic land of
ireland
for our own reasons
and
what a lucky beginning
to this wonderful adventure.

So Happy that you found a traveling companion and are getting there, if with some challenges.

Hey Beth, if you’re down around Tramore in Ireland you should have coffee with Jean at Social Bridge https://socialbridge.wordpress.com/ I’m sure she’d be delighted to meet you.

I’m so happy for you, Beth! You would attract nice people anywhere you went, I have a feeling. I’ve been absent from the blogging world and have been looking on your blog to see where in Ireland you’re going, but have probably not read the right posts if you’ve mentioned it. Hope you share more of your experiences!
We went about 10 years ago and really enjoyed the culture. I think I liked Doolin the best. And maybe Kilkenny. I found the driving terrifying, though. I’d also like to hear of your experiences flying through the main U.S. international airports (you might have flown out of Chicago being where you are?).
HAPPY TRAILS TO YOU!!

I stayed in doolin last night as a matter of fact and it was wonderful. I’m traveling all around the country, some planned, some unplanned, I’ll keep you posted )

I think he’s the lucky one, Beth. It reminds me of the day I worked in a hotel as concierge, the same day the unbeaten New England Patriots were to face the New York Giants. Undecided which way to bet, he took one look at my name tag – and knew instantly to take a chance on Eli Manning and the Giants. He could have at least bought me a bag of animal crackers with his winnings!

What fun! To be going to Ireland, that is, and getting to listen to an Irish accent for so long! Not so much fun all the other stuff.

You spread joy wherever you go, Beth. You create your own “luck” while others feel lucky to share time with you.
On a different subject, your Mud Hens won 3:2! I was happy that my grandsons team won their league of 10 + 11 year olds! 🙂
