the view of the sea

from the kitchen of

our 260 year old farmhouse

in a remotely quiet

and beautiful area

way out

on old head 

through fields

to where the lusitania and its crew lie at rest

down winding roads

 to where the sailors catch the wind

in the city of kinsale.

  2. Or, and maybe from whence JFK got the idea, here is Wordsworth saying much the same thing of the sea in 1804…

    “Hence in a season of calm weather
    Though inland far we be,
    Our Souls have sight of that immortal sea
    Which brought us hither,
    Can in a moment travel thither,
    And see the Children sport upon the shore,
    And hear the mighty waters rolling evermore.”

      • It’s an interesting poem. Wordsworth like a sixties hippy who has just discovered Buddhism and the cycle of rebirth. He says:

        Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting:
        The Soul that rises with us, our life’s Star,
        Hath had elsewhere its setting,
        And cometh from afar:
        Not in entire forgetfulness,
        And not in utter nakedness,
        But trailing clouds of glory do we come
