  4. Yeee Haw! Road Trip! Ha! We seldom allowed our kids to have much in the way of sugary treats until it was road trip time – then we’d buy them whatever they wanted to try to distract them. The kids, of course, saw through this strategy immediately and began to demand a “quick” stop at a local 24 hour mall each trip to pick up a favorite CD or whatever. I started planning this stop into each trip – and although they knew what we were doing, it still worked and was still worth it, Ha!
