“we know that in september,

we will wander through the warm winds of summer’s wreckage.

we will welcome summer’s ghost.”

  1. Summers ghost lingers…I wish I lived where you do…we don’t get much change in either state I have chosen to call home…in Florida the temps should start cooling in mid-October and by then you’re in full color detail of your autumn and in Texas if you’re lucky the triple digits will be gone in late September. I loved your blog Beth as always..have a wonderful day and enjoy your children in your classroom. Young minds are such a wonderful joy aren’t they. Kat

  2. “Try to remember the kind of September
When life was slow and oh, so mellow.
Try to remember the kind of September
When grass was green and grain was yellow.
Try to remember the kind of September
When you were a tender and callow fellow.
Try to remember, and if you remember,
    Then follow.” (Tom Jones)

    I like Septembers.

  3. I’m not a fan of September, that time of year when I say goodbye to my old friend, Summer and for a time mourn it’s passing.
I quickly move on though as I love Christmas, but not until December. 🙂

  4. That is very poetic for Henry Rollins!

I have mixed feelings towards September as here in Australia it signals the longed-for end to Winter, and start of Spring, and it’s also the month of my birthday. But since 2011, it’s also the month in which my younger brother died. So it’s happy and sad for me, when September rolls around.

  5. That sounds so sad! I was always disappointed that my birthday is in this month because it meant autumn was coming and with it winter. But on a more glass half full side, it’s a happy spot during an otherwise darker time of year, I guess.
