One of my very best friends once did a really wonderful thing for me. When I was going through a period of dark depression and really no fun at all to be with, she allowed me to come to her home and spend a holiday weekend with her. She just allowed me to stew in my depression. No trite catchphrases like “things will look better tomorrow” or “pull yourself together”. We said little and did less. She just let me be but made sure I was not alone. And it remains one of my most treasured experiences of friendship.
Wonderful post Beth and it says it all doesn’t TRUE FRIENDSHIP one doesn’t have to do anything but BE and that is unique and rare. God bless you my friend. ❤
I only have two people in my life this applies to: my mother and my husband. And maybe my other best friend, my cousin Deanna. It is something to ponder though. Great inspiration, Beth.
Love this! If you can’t do nothing with someone, why do anything with them, eh? haha
small world, I followed you just the other day after randomly happening upon your blog, and just now saw you hail from Ann Arbor! I moved, but I’m from MI too, I love the ann arbor area
best wishes

Oh yes, absolutely. I agree, keeping it simple, needing no words and being comfortable in silence and friendship is golden.

Great photo – colors and compostiton. Taking a photo of adults in a puddle would never be so lively.

thank you so much, clay. and isn’t it amazing with kids – even in a still photo you can feel the energy and movement ?

There are two types of friends, those who expect something in return, those who expect nothing in return. I like the latter much better.

Smart man, that Eugene Kennedy. I had a book by him with a foreword written by none other than Esther Pauline Lederer, a/k/a Ann Landers.

I love those rain boots and the splashes of mud on the yellow slicker on the child (on the left of the photo)! 🙂 Great quote for this, Beth.

Funny, when you’re with that friend, it doesn’t feel like a test at all. 🙂
