Beth strikes again! Incredible picture, Beth. My dad, who is playing golf in heaven, had several pair of golf plaid pants.I know I’ve seen this picture before … but what a group. One more thing. Epicticus … I know very little about him. But I have collected writer’s quotes over the years, and Epicticus said “If you wish to write, then write.” Such a simple quote, but it reminds me to just “do it”.

it is fun to see them all together, and proud in their plaid. my dad had the pants as well, and the one who taught me about bo. i love the writing quote, simple and powerful. sad ending to this game in double overtime when we lost )

This is what men looked like when I was a child. I’ll take a plaid pant over the leisure suite any day.
I like the quote very much. It made me think, though, that it is sometimes the cranky, pessimist in the group whose presence calls forth my best tolerance, or compassion, or silence. It takes all kinds, doesn’t it?

i’m with you on the plaid, and no worries, every group needs a variety of people, there’s a reason you’re in a group )

I really thought your team got hosed on the first down call. But, what a game.

Great picture. I miss the “Bo” years. I have to be happy for my Buckeyes. But, I always feel bad for the other teams. We all go into it with the same passions and hopes. Every year, someone has this hard loss.

Why can’t I wear pants like that? Rough day for the Wolverines. And your opponents’ helmets were a new strain of ugly.

you are more than welcome to wear your plaids with pride, and it was a tough day for blue. yes, those other helmets…

I am an unabashed Buckeye, but Bo was one of my favorite people. I was working in Ann Arbor one summer, going door to door for an environmental group. I rang a doorbell on an unassuming street which was answered by Bo Schembechler. I stood there stunned for what seemed like several minutes, but I am sure was just a few seconds. Finally he said: “Can I help you son?” To which I responded: “I’m sorry, it’s just that I have hated you all of my life.” Without missing a beat, Bo responded: “Well, I’ve just met you. Give me some time, I am sure I will end up hating you too.” With that, he welcomed me in, and we sat at his kitchen table drinking lemonade for the better part of an hour. We talked about Woody Hayes, football, the rivalry, but mostly life. I will never forget it. I really do not like that team up North, but I will forever be a huge fan of Bo: I wept the day he died. Truly one of the greats.

So I wonder if this is originally where the “bo knows” saying derived from.
Love the plaid….
