grandies wake up in the cottage
and run downstairs
to take in all the magic
of the new morning snow
and
perched atop piles of books
eagerly await the arrival
of their cousins
who will soon help them bake
a team of sweet gingerbread reindeer.

Children get this more than any of us. We would do well to reclaim that kind of magical wonder. ❤

awesome photo. I often wonder why we has adult lose the wonderment of a child. That is a good question to ponder for another time I guess. Have a wonderful week Beth.

A precious photo, I can just visualize their adorable faces and the books add a perfect touch. Isn’t It wonderful how children can fill the home and the people that live there with the excitement of the season. What a beautiful memory you have captured. Merry Christmas from our house to yours.

A story book illustration in the making. Makes me think of John Masefield’s enchanting children’s book The Box of Delights.

Isn’t that a lovely quote and thank you so much for bringing it to my attention. I do remember when I was a kid, about a week or two ago, we always met up with my cousins for the summer holiday and had a brilliant time together. Even now, after all this time they remain my closest friends based on the bonds formed in our childhood adventures
