I didn't have my glasses on.... 
When I got to ” or at least pretend to” I couldn’t stop smiling. Not too long ago I was with a lady and a fellow who was giving her a stream of rather earnest, and overpowering advice. as she nodded in apparent agreement. In the end he left and I asked her what thought of his suggestions. “Oh I wasn’t really listening” she said, which amused the hell out of me, as did your post 🙂
