mixed feelings
when walking inside from another round of snow
and being greeted by a 4th of july display
at least i have my sandals on
with my long down coat
“there are certain odd times and occasions
in this strange mixed affair we call life
when a man takes his whole universe for a vast practical joke.”

My aunt is going on a ‘mystery tour’ and doesn’t know whether to pack a bikini or a winter coat. I told her to prepare with layers.

Yes, crazy weather. Haven’t turned the heat off yet. And never know what to wear.

It is supposed to be 75 degrees here today, but I don’t trust them. I’m wearing a Hawaiian Shirt and my winter jacket.

Mark labels it well. A seasonal blur. It’s been an April of winter, with hiccups of spring here in PA.

Spring is full of mixed feelings, but finding this would be an extra odd one. Perfect quote from Melville to match.

Uggh. I’m sort of tired of complaining about the weather, except maybe not really because I keep doing it. But today it’s 80 degrees here. Sunday we expect snow. Sigh.

Love your poem – ready for anything. We are the same here that as soon as one festivity is over the shops are ready for the next. If there was nothing between Easter and Christmas they’d be selling Christmas stuff already. Perhaps they are as many here celebrate Christmas in July (just so it can be done in the cold).

maybe we should just do monthly general celebrations and mix all the trappings together )

LOL. It would suit me but I think there are a lot of people who enjoy the different festivities. Can you just imagine it though – I would be the side of a house with year long chocolate eggs and Christmas puddings.

That IS mixed. Still snowing here and lots more expected by tomorrow evening. Arrgh. Though I haven’t seen anything for July 4 yet. Don’t we have to celebrate Mother’s and Father’s Days first?

This brought a smile, Beth, but the weather sure has been crazy. It’s always best to be prepared, though. 🙂
