Broke my heart once, several years ago. We were handing out free books for kids at a street fair, and I lost count of the parents who said, “No thanks, we don’t read.”

My dad told me he was disappointed to see parents steering their kids away from advanced books. If they are ready to read them, let them read them was his philosophy.

That’s it? 15 minutes a day? That’s like when doctors get tired of trying to get people to exercise an hour day. Can you do 45 minutes a day? A half an hour? Please? Every other day maybe?

this example was to illustrate the difference that even a short time spent reading to/with children, can have a huge impact on them. to remind adults of the importance of this. yes, more is absolutely better, at every age, but 15 minutes is a good beginning to get into the practice for those who don’t do this on a regular basis.

My spouse used to say that I read too much. Is that really possible? Love the picture, also.
(And I do get plenty of physical activity, with my reading.)

Reading is such a wonderful thing and you don’t need technology for it. ( unless you only read kindle) It has only positive impact- reading!

YES!!!! If only we could impassion more people to read. You know how we encourage everyone to walk 30 minutes three times a week, or write 15 minutes a day. There should be a national move to urge people to AT LEAST read 15 minutes a day. How the world could change.
