“on memorial day, i don’t want to only remember the combatants. there were also those who came out of the trenches as writers and poets, who started preaching peace, men and women who have made this world a kinder place to live”

  2. excellent quote!

sadly, while many who experienced the horror and terror of war have striven (in different ways) to do what they can to prevent more young men and women having to go to war, there are old men in positions of power, who have never themselves fought for their country, who are cavalierly eager to send others to war – to do what they didn’t have the courage to do themselves when asked

  3. This quote touches my heart, as we all have a piece of every war and skirmish taken away from us; in one way or another.
The support was always helpful for the armed forces to keep on going, risking it all for their country.
