September 24th: National Punctuation Day
* “A celebration of the lowly comma, correctly used quotation marks,
and other proper uses of periods, semicolons, and the ever-mysterious ellipsis.”
National Punctuation Day gives you the opportunity
to dress up your sentences with all kinds of context and accentuation!
Or, take the day to remind yourself what a semicolon actually does.

‘i’m tired of wasting letters when punctuation will do, period.’
-steve martin
*(i may not be qualified to celebrate this holiday,
as i endlessly abuse this system of grammatical organization.)

Semicolons are so pointless. I never use myself, and I’m in good company according to the Wikipedia page on this detested piece of punctuation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semicolon . Neither Chandler nor Hemingway would touch them!

I have been called a serial comma killer, Beth, truth be told. It all depends on your style. Happy punctuation day, all!

How I do my best to maintain proper punctuation and grammar in all I write. I’m appalled at how too many young people are not being taught how to write properly. I LOVED what you did with your little drawing. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I appreciate grammar. I just don’t appreciate using it with any regularity…

Today, I lay low or should I write, today, I am laid low? I dunno, it is all so confusing.

I love to find writers and bloggers who do things differently and who have fun. Thanks for always mixing it up and making me smile. Cheers, Brian

Ahhh… the ellipsis.
Love the Steve Martin quote. Punctuation means different things for different people. So confusing..:)

so glad I missed this – says someone who regularly starts a sentence without capitalising the first letter of the first word and who routinely inserts a hyphen (dash) to separate parts of a sentence to save time pondering over whether a comma or a semi-colon is the correct form of punctuation to use at that point 😆
