Baby names generated by a neural network at Stanford University
—
in iceland, it’s hard to come up with a creative name for a newborn.
a government committee prevents parents
from giving babies names that it deems ‘too weird.’
the committee’s name – mannanafnanefnd.

This is what I usually put on those nametags…

Have you heard of Blaer Bjarkardottir? She was “Girl” on all her official paperwork because “Blaer” wasn’t on the list of approved names in Iceland. She ended up suing the government to have her given name on her birth certificate, and won. http://newsfeed.time.com/2013/01/03/why-an-icelandic-girl-named-light-breeze-isnt-legally-allowed-to-use-her-own-name/

I love unique names but am content with my own. I’m glad I met someone who has Beth as her name. I have only known closely one other Beth. She was back in my early elementary years. R. . . E (Elizabeth) . O

I found more about the Icelandic Naming Committee at

We’re at the opposite end of the spectrum here, where just about any weird thing can be given as a name.

Thanks so much. You are so right about being in the opposite end –
