at the faculty party

when you get ready to leave

and go to pick up your coat

only to realize

that everyone has

a long, dark, down, winter coat

so you make a best guess choice.

Your dilemma reminds me that I’m still slightly scarred from the Cub Scout game when the den master told us all to put our shoes in a big pile in the center of the room to discover who could find theirs, put them on and tie them properly the fastest … only to discover that all the scouts were wearing beige desert boots size 6 and were not that great in sleuthing out which were theirs. Darn right I was the one who was not going to put some random desert boot on my foot.

  8. It’s happened to me more than once! There’s always that moment of panic that someone may have already taken mine by mistake and discovered the handful of tissues shoved in every pocket. 🤣

  14. Clever play on words! My guy flew home from Europe a couple of weeks ago and picked up his bag from the baggage carousel that looked like his bag, and everyone else’s. An hour later, just as he arrived home from the airport, he received a phone call that his bag was in the hands of a European, and the European’s bag was in his hands. Reverse trip to airport made immediately. 🙂

  15. Hm…reminds me of the senior exercise class that I attend….we all have black jackets and the one day one of my exercise mates took MY jacket with my phone and car keys. Sad thing was that she INSISTED it was hers and i almost had to arm wrestle her to get it away from her. (Week before that another senior did take my car keys and I had to hitch a ride home……leave it to me. ;>) )

  18. Beth, I love the way you took a funny situation nearly everyone can relate to and managed to make it even funnier. I came home from a big party with someone else’s coat even though she and I were the only ones who had the same coat! 😳
