what’s your number?

Standard
according to the candles on his cake
 my friend’s age
was shown to be one year older
than his actual age.
when asked why the number was different
his wife mentioned
that those were the only candles
to be found in the junk drawer.
ah, wisdom.

  1. I dunno. 70 is a pretty big milestone. And sometimes hard to admit to. For those cringing, decade-changing years, I think I”d like the number to be exact… But it also signifies a “who cares” spirit that needs to take over at about that point, says the woman who turned 75 this summer.
