after a breakfast with the grandies
sandwiches, coleslaw, hash browns, pancakes, and juice
talk turned to our worst juices
tomato.
lemon.
‘mine is hot dog juice, i tried it.’
yes, you win.

Seriously? Your worst juice is tomato but you will eat a breakfast like that?

In New York City, those hot dog cart juices are considered a delicacy, Beth. Ha.

As a kid, I drank green olive “juice” on a dare. I recall it being followed by some Pepto Bismol…

It shoulda said “sugar cane” juice. You probably figured that. My onboard editor was slow, as usual.

Hopkins almost compensates for “dog juice”

That is hilarious….I grew up on the west coast, so “clam nectar” is a thing!

The funniest part is they “limit” a married man to only 3 cups…a goofy little joke that suggests clam nectar makes you “randy” I guess

but seriously, you were NOT REALLY eating all that fatty stuff for BREAKFAST?! I just nearly had to spit out my spittle…. although I like your youngster’s ‘worst’ choice. Can’t add my own as I am not in the habit of eating Hot Dogs and therefore can’t judge their juices 😉

Your Hopkins quotation sent me tracking down the original, which is a poem called “Spring”:
Nothing is so beautiful as Spring –
When weeds, in wheels, shoot long and lovely and lush;
Thrush’s eggs look little low heavens, and thrush
Through the echoing timber does so rinse and wring
The ear, it strikes like lightnings to hear him sing;
The glassy peartree leaves and blooms, they brush
The descending blue; that blue is all in a rush
With richness; the racing lambs too have fair their fling.
What is all this juice and all this joy?
A strain of the earth’s sweet being in the beginning
In Eden garden. – Have, get, before it cloy,
Before it cloud, Christ, lord, and sour with sinning,
Innocent mind and Mayday in girl and boy,
Most, O maid’s child, thy choice and worthy the winning.

I like briney taste too; as a matter of fact…I drink pickle juice enough to order it by the gallon (that’s for a long period of time) 😉🤣🥒 so that I don’t leave our pickles with too little juice. I love olive juice too; although I don’t drink it like I do pickle juice, except during pregnancy (40 years ago) 🤭 just sayin’ 🥰

I’ve read about a lot of athletes drinking pickle juice

It has turned out to be what works best, quickest for dehydration issues, muscle cramping; replacing whatever is in that juice. Potassium? Magnesium? Electrolytes???
