what an honor and a pleasure
it was
to have spent two days
with intelligent caring educators from many places
coming together
to
share, discuss, question, wonder, listen,
learn from each other
about leading
respectful, compassionate, joyful, creative, curious, playful, democratic classrooms
for young children
where they begin
to discover and grow a love of learning
about the world near and far
every experience
preparing them for what is beyond
this comforting place
they call school.

It sounds amazing. I actually do some on-line teaching of young Chinese children myself so this resonates with me 🙂

The world is upside down in many ways. I believe teachers should be paid engineering wages (at least), especially elementary teachers. What part of “preparing for the future” don’t people understand?

I love this because it is so profound and definitely something we must not forget in general. We need to be aware that we never know everything and that there is always more to learn.

How wonderful! Was it a teacher conference? I love coming away from them feeling rejuvenated and wanting to get right back into the classroom. Beautifully written, Beth.

It was – just a small group. 25 people from all over and 2 days of hands-on shared experiences and discussions. So good. Thanks!
