Interesting. I don’t remember being encouraged to love learning when I was younger. But now, I love love love learning. I have to say, loving to learn has been a blessing. This makes sense and speaks to me. 🙂
I think the really important part of my education was (and is) my ability to learn what I want to learn. My mentors along the way have been blessings. I am very grateful that the actual process of learning something is an abiding pleasure.
Absolutely. I always believed the best thing I could give my students were more tools with which to learn on their own. Luckily I taught skills. Unfortunately skills are somewhat ineffable and difficult to measure compared to content. Is it a failed birdhouse if birds never come? No.
I couldn’t agree more with the quote. That’s why I was so excited when I took the Clifton Strengths Finder assessment, and Learner was my top strength. Great picture to go with the quote as well!
I read this last night and again this morning. It’s perfect and I saved the quote. Completely on target. Life is nothing but change so we must be willing to learn new ways of being in the world. So many are just unwilling to learn something new. I hear it almost daily. Sad.
Hear! Hear! Love it! John Holt had lots of wisdom to share. 🙂
