I’ve been keeping a diary for thirty-three years and write in it every morning.
Most of it’s just whining,
but every so often there’ll be something I can use later:
a joke, a description, a quote.
It’s an invaluable aid when it comes to winning arguments.
‘That’s not what you said on February 3, 1996,’ I’ll say to someone.

I wish I had kept a diary. So many things I’ve forgotten.

I don’t call mine a diary…I call it a journal. Even so, it’s still mostly whining. 🙂

I love that reply. I think that I’ll use on my neighbors daughter who is 29. I’ll say that’s not what you said on Feb 4, 1990. Heh!

It absolutely helps win arguments. I’ve kept diaries since I was about nine. I went through several teenage ones a few months ago and had to toss them because no good could come of sharing those midnight tales. A coworker of mine suggested in 1999 that I start writing my diary on a computer and I did. So now I have 20 years of computer diary. So easy to access when looking up things like medical history or family moments with the simplicity of just a Ctrl F. It’s so interesting to see how we evolve as women.
