warmth.

Standard

when in london many years ago

i happened upon these two in a park

struck by the natural warmth between them

i took this picture without their knowing

hoping i could somehow capture

the closeness

the easy comfort

between them

in that moment in time

it was simply impossible to do so

but every time i look at this

it makes me feel that warmth again

just for a moment.

when the warmth of the heart seems to increase in direct proportion with the years.”

  1. another winner! Makes me think of MARIE DE HENNEZEL’s book The Warmth of the Heart prevents the Body from rusting…. (or similar – she’s a French writer)…. lots of excellent advice on ageing and doing so in grace and love and acceptance. I’m sure JP. Marquand is quoting from her book here. Read it – it’s not the easiest read but a well worth-while one! Excellent English translation.

  2. It’s a wonderful photograph and there is a certain calmness about them and it makes you feel secure and good as if one was living in a tranquil world without viruses that cause pandemics, without protests and without all the negative things that greet us in our journey through life. Those two gents are relaxed and satisfied and their world, at the moment was their conversation…great post Beth!

  3. This is exquisite, Beth. I see why you go back to it for that special feeling.
When I was golfing with my buddy on Friday, I casually remarked how we first met 37 years ago. It seems like yesterday yet also that we know each other forever.

    • thank you, and that is so very sweet. I imagine they have had a very long relationship, just like you and your close buddy. these connections are irreplaceable

  4. Lovely photo. ‘Warmth’ is the perfect word.

    “Old friends
sat on their park bench like bookends.
A newspaper blown through the grass
    falls on the round toes
    of the high shoes
    of the old friends.”
