we are so tiny

the size our worries should be

nothing in the scheme

“i believe everyone should have a broad picture of how the universe operates and our place in it.

it is a basic human desire.

and it also puts our worries in perspective.”

  1. This insight is one of the reasons why I love watching the night sky. It distances me from the meaningless problems in my life and shows me the majestic universe, I am blessed to be a part of.

  2. Stephen Hawking was ahead of his time. So few are interested in physics or cosmology and don’t understand how it all affects us. Maybe soon everyone will get that we are a tiny dot in the overall but have a strong affect just by our thoughts and actions. Everything affects everything else. I do wish he hadn’t made us aware of black holes though. It tends to worry me a bit. 😉

  3. This reminds me of how, in law school, I’d go sit on my apartment’s front porch when feeling overwhelmed by everything in my own life. Since that porch looked onto a very, very busy freeway, I got quick, solid perspective; it wasn’t to say that my own experiences didn’t matter, but that they were a very, very small piece of a much bigger picture. So I smile to read this, both remembering and being reminded: perspective.
