hunting in nooks and crannies, logs, trees, mossy patches
there we met a few fungi along with their mold and lichen cousins
luckily my daughter and grandies have studied a lot about mushrooms
why i’m here to tell my story.

Lovely pic and writing and quote. There were some sad cases here a few years ago where people died from eating mushrooms they had gathered in the wild.

I saw some amazing mushrooms, as we call them but I don’t have the knowledge to distinguish between the good and the poisonous

The only mushroom I can confidently identify is the small Liberty Cap. it’s tiny and is a natural form of psilocybin. The grow most everywhere on the Oregon coast. Another boon from my misspent youth.

My Mom foraged for wide mushrooms for years in the Olympic National Forest west of Seattle…she used to wrap them in paper towels and overnight them to me! Deliciously fresh!

The only shrooms I eat are from the grocery store or a restaurant. Those are the only ones I can reliably recognize.
