in talking with the grandies

about all the excitement leading up to christmas eve

i soon realized

that i was even excited for the eve before that eve

because i know what comes next

and it just grows from there.

“I like to compare the holiday season with the way a child listens to a favorite story. The pleasure is in the familiar way the story begins, the anticipation of familiar turns it takes, the familiar moments of suspense, and the familiar climax and ending.”

  1. It is hard not to get caught up in the excitement that children exude as the big day approaches. I remember counting the days to Christmas by the number of “sleeps” before the big morning. I hope you all have a wonderful, happy, and safe holidays!

  2. Children bring such innocent joy to our lives. I remember I got so excited as a kid for holidays like Christmas and my birthday on Valentine’s Day that I caused myself to get sick

  3. Love, love, love this time of year and the “anticipation” that goes along with it. Our community does a small Christmas parade with lawn mowers decorated with Christmas themes and this year they outdid themselves with lights, music and decorations. And to top it off, we had snow yesterday. A GIFT to my heart and many of us that are kids heart. A Merry Christmas to you and the kiddo’s, Beth! Stay healthy and safe. ❤

  4. T’was the night before the night before Christmas and all through our flat all the creatures were chatting, even the cat . . . although that may be because we are already celebrating the anticipation here too. Merry Christmas, Beth!
