all i can picture is mario kart.
actual humans in tokyo, mario-karting on the road

Yes, and driver’s ed training online reminds me of the NASCAR iRacing I watched on TV during the early months of the pandemic, Beth. Kind of sort of not really like the real turns and bumps.

The wheels on that kart are pretty sophisticated. I want one. And my fave Updike quote is when he called Fenway “a lyric little bandbox of a ballpark.” So, this post made me smile twice. Great start to the day.

As long as she doesn’t drive a non-virtual car, I’m all for it. I go out so seldom now, that I have to take my car for a ride so the battery doesn’t die.

I drive so rarely that my battery died twice last year. Now it’s plugged into a trickle charger.
At some point she’ll have to learn in a real car. Maybe masked, in a convertible, in 15-minute sessions.

everyone loves Mario 🙂 I actually love driving but not huge distances, not any more 🙂 and I don’t mind being a passenger if it’s in the front seat 🙂

We’re so out of practice with long driving trips these days. We drove up to Portland over the holidays and got an Airbnb with our son, who we hadn’t seen since March. It almost felt normal for a change.

Thank goodness we are past the stage of teaching our children to drive – it was a long process. I’ve heard of the online courses. I wonder how they are! Maybe like Mario Kart, just like you say!
