our class has been taking a close look at snow and ice
after reading them
the first book i ever read all by myself
‘snow’ by p.d. eastman
brought a snowball in from outside
named it ned
popped it in our freezer
check on it every now and then
take ned out for just a little bit
see if it’s still cold and in the shape of a snowball and if it’s drippy
hope that ned will be with us throughout the season
even if he goes away in the spring
we’re pretty sure he’ll be back next winter.
—
Ned was a little flaky at first, but with some loving attention he has turned out to be a well-rounded individual. Now every snowball I ever meet will somehow be named “Ned”. Thanks for that, Beth!

ps as you probably know much of Australia, including the city where I live, very rarely sees snow 😦

That’s so cute. My favorite children’s snow book is The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats.

very beautiful Beth 🙂 It reminds me the first snow at home when my ad would take a snow ball and would mix it with maple syrup. It was the most magical time:D

I remember reading that P.D. Eastman book to my son when he was little! I also read Shel Silverstein’s books. I loved his wacky sense of humor! Thanks for bringing up sweet memories!

Our pen pals from Minnesota once mailed us a snowball. 🤣 By the time it reached us, inside a plastic container, it could be classified as one of their 10,000 lakes. We sent them back part of the Pacific Ocean.
