should we swim or play ice hockey today?
luckily this sign helps to make the decision easier.

Let’s hope the ice is thick enough!

this ice is safe, on a small pond and near shore

Let’s hope the sign doesn’t indicate an actual option 🥶

I grew up playing hockey on frozen ponds. Great memories.

Oh, I’m also always beyond amused when I see such signs – although I rather see ‘walking on the ice strictly forbidden’ around Easter or later. The town people seem to forget which signs to take away when the snow and ice are long gone….

When I ran programming at E! in the 90’s, Weird Al wrote a song for “Talk Soup” – I think it’s on the album of his with the Jurassic Park parody!

Hope that ice is good and thick. Around here (Denver) it seems like at least once a week someone and/or their dog needs to be rescued after breaking through pond ice.

it’s been very cold here for a while now, they’re playing on a small pond and close to shore

Thank goodness for the helpful sign. It’s no longer up, but there used to be a sign in our hometown that read “Sidewalk Ends.” I found it not only humorous because it was fairly obvious but also because it made me think of Shel Silverstein whenever I’d see the sign.
