the heat is on and a candyland championship game is in play
my absolute favorite game and the competition is tough
there is no crying in candyland.

I don’t know that game. I really missed out. 🙂 Perhaps that’s why my daughter and I made up our own Trick or Treat game.

It’s just as much fun making up games as it is playing them. 🙂

I recall playing this game with my younger sisters, Beth, along with Chutes and Ladders and Operation. We had a blast.

I was more of a Chutes and Ladders kind of kid, though I seem to recall enjoying Tinkertoys and Lincoln Logs more than board games. 🙂

I remember all of those )

There was so much to do at playtime, Mike, I agree. Lincoln Logs were a big favorite for me. Along with PlayDoh to shape and build, and Silly Putty along with the Sunday comics section to copy and stretch.

So much fun for me with this one, Beth.

As I grew a little older, I remember erector sets with sharp metal edges and little screws that would probably be judged too dangerous for children. I had forgotten about Silly Putty and the comics and now am thinking of other toys like my Etch a Sketch and Slinky.

Even then I shied away from the stuff I had to put together with little screws, Mike. Talk about traits that start young and carry over in life. But a big yes to Etch a Sketch and Slinky. I’d still be able to find fun times with both.

I suppose one of the good things about playing candy land, is that even when you are losing, you are still in candy land. Why rush through it?

OMG this brings me back!!! I used to play this game with my little brother all the time. We played so often the board broke in half and we lost some of the pieces 😀 Seeing this makes me want to play again!!

Great memories along with that game. Our kids were six years apart, so we had a good long run with it.

The first time this dad played this game, no kidding, a fight broke out. Two sweet girls, caught up in the competition, one using the Queen Frostine card by uncouth means. There were gingerbread men tossed and askew across the board and me, left wondering what I’d just witnessed.

strategy has no place in this game, it’s all a matter of luck and timing. and being able to count.
