justice begins.

Standard

“if one really wishes to know how justice is administered in a country, one does not question the policemen, the lawyers, the judges, or the protected members of the middle class. One goes to the unprotected – those, precisely, who need the law’s protection most – and listens to their testimony.”

  1. Baldwin nailed it.

I see where my mind is at. I’ve been playing a lot of Words with Friends on my phone, and I perked up when I saw the “j” from justice.

  2. Interestingly, in a Gallup poll taken last June 23–July 6, after a month of protests, riots, and millions of dollars of destruction, a majority (61%) of black Americans surveyed said they preferred the police to spend about as much time in their neighborhoods as they already were spending. Those who answered differently were about evenly divided between wanting more policing (20%) and wanting less policing (19%). That means 80% of black Americans in the poll wanted either the same amount of policing in their neighborhoods or even more than they already had. Here are the details:

Do you remember whether any of the news media that you follow reported the results of that poll?

      • Unfortunately most of the media purposely don’t report things like that. They’re so invested in pushing an agenda that they refuse to let people learn facts that contradict the agenda. It’s a sorry state of affairs we’ve come to in America, where many now decry objectivity and due process as tools of oppression. Color me cynical.
