I used to love making paper airplanes , and wonder of wonders, they’d sometimes fly:) there was even a very successful featute film made here in Oz some years back called ‘Paper Planes’ directed by Robert Connoly, the director of this year’s ‘The Big Dry’ a moody masterpiece which must be viewed on the BIG screen: I’ve seen it twice 🙂
Haha … Yes .. sheets of writing paper are always flying off my desk and disappearing !! .. Problem solved yesterday, when my cleaner asked me “How come there is so many sheets of writing paper under your bed” ?? 😂🤣
The learning is in the little things–I wish that wonderment of such simple questions could stay in the minds of young readers once they begin staring at a screen all day. Great job, Beth. 🤍
yes, you hit the nail on the head. yesterday, they stood as tall as they could and let the paper fly from the top of their heads. we talked about making paper airplanes next!
If you had the chance to either fall or fly, which would you choose?

when one slid off a table and slowly made its way to the ground, the class became fascinated by how it ‘flew’ instead of fell

Isn’t the next step to thinking about how air currents affect paper. It sounds like it’s time to investigate with paper airplanes.
