still no power, but beautiful days
—
“the town was glad with morning light; places that had shown ugly and distrustful all night long, now wore a smile; and sparkling sunbeams dancing on chamber windows, and twinkling through blind and curtain before sleepers’ eyes, shed light even into dreams, and chased away the shadows of the night.”
-charles dickens
We never realize how plugged in we are until someone pulls the plug. Hope you power is restored soon and your are surviving your visit to the stone age.

you’re so right, we take it all for granted, and i don’t mind the quieter pace of life, just have to do a bit more work to get some things done, and letting other things go.

That’s a beautiful quote from Dickens. I may have to use it, too. I had to look it up–it’s from The Old Curiosity Shop. 😀. Hope your power is back on soon.

i loved this one too, and thanks for looking up the source – i’m sure it’s only a matter of time, though how much time is iffy…)

Time to write a letter to your Senator. You needn’t mail it, but writing it might give some relief. Do it in the dark of night.

Yes by candlelight. But what a shame and waste to have to use those pretty scented candles that were given to you as gifts and have been sitting and displayed on a shelf for years and years. 😦

I’m not surprised you are keeping a positive attitude…
if there is going to be a power outage, I would prefer that it happens in the summer rather than winter…

in 2007 we were without power for 8 days because of a powerful Sou’wester. Gasoline was hard to come by and generators had to be run judiciously. It made us really appreciate the miracle of flipping a switch. It put daylight in a whole ‘nother perspective.

Some of our local schools started this past week, but most of them still have one more week. Your extended power outage made me recall adventures trying to teach in semidarkness.

Beth, you are the sparkling sunbeams dancing on my chamber windows every morning. How you manage to remain so upbeat and post something every day is amazing. Stay well and I hope you get your power back very soon.

Sorry you are without power. We went 5 days when the eastern states and Canada went down.
I know what you are going through!
It will end.

Hard to be without power. We have had rolling blackouts here sometimes but thankfully for hours not days. We need this new infrastructure. Hope you are staying cool.

Weather in 70s, so not a problem and we so need the infrastructure

Definitely! If I lose power it will be because the whole valley has lost power so I bought a sterno stove for that emergency! 😀

We were without power for 8 days a few years back. There was a lot of need during that time and an incredible gentleness came over everyone. It was actually kind of nice.
