some may never think of this book as great literature
yet it is clearly one of my favorite books to read aloud
while this family is different from most
they accept absolutely everyone without judgement
always making the best of things
and seeing the good in other people
the kinder think back on this
learning to say ‘it’s just topsy-turvy’
when things change, are different than they expected, or don’t go as planned
they just smile and take it all in stride
for this reason i do find it to be pretty great indeed
and i think what a beautiful lesson and way to be.

No matter how much we practice, prepare, or plan, something will always go differently than we expected. It is rising to those occasions that defines success. Great post, Beth!

Some and probably many adults need to be sat down on the rug and listen to this book being read.
(and keep their hands to themselves.) (and write a hundred page essay on the meaning of the story)

There are a few books I’ve read more than once and I always learn something new each time. Reading a picture book always brings a smile to my face. So much to learn… have a fabulous Friday. Peace.

There are books that accompany you throughout your life. There are books or stories in books my kids wanted to hear over and over again. Sometimes those are the books I loved when I was a kid already.

Love this. When my kids loved a book, sometimes we read it every night, over and over again, for months. It met a need. Kids’ books can be profound.

Obviously much loved and well read, as all good books should be. “Topsy turvy” certainly describes the world we live in today.

the English phrase ‘topsy turvy’ has already a super sound to it and it’s so evocative that everybody just MUST see it’s wonderful-ness!!! Your book clearly is a much beloved one, it looks like something seen in a lovingly kept cookery book of a grandmother long gone…

I love this!! Not only is the book perfect for reading to children, but the lesson is the best. I must look for this on Amazon. Rosemary Wells was spot on with her quote!
