entering the anna scripps whitcomb conservatory
designed by albert kahn and george mason in 1904
on belle isle, in detroit, michigan
you realize what an amazing vision of the world they had

Great post, Beth! It is an amazing structure and just one of the many places to visit on Belle Isle.

The Conservatory looks spectacular Beth .. When I was in Philadelphia May 2019, my cousins took down to the famous Longwood Gardens, and they were incredibily impressive too Beth ..

Detroit just keeps surprising me, thanks to your posts. This Belle Isle sounds like a nice place to visit…
I often wish I was smart enough to be an architect; seems like such a wonderful job…

same landscape architect as central park, it’s a an endlessly fascinating place, a refuge from dally city life. detroit itself refuses to give up, and is rebuilding itself

Terrific! I grew up with one in Seattle and we’d love to wander through it, especially because it was so humid, like a jungle…when you grow up in Seattle, there is NO such thing as humidity!
