It started in earnest two days ago – but it’s not THAT serious yet. We’ve been told that we’ll have a VERY COLD December. On Saturday, I planted some last pots with tulips – they already had little peaks out in the bag but all are safely tucked in now in good compost and covered with a sisal/hessian ‘overthrow’. Planted mixed tulips in large pots of my mum’s (who lives in an senior residence) balcony – will bring them in spring when the tulips start to bloom.
They haven’t lined up here in Minnesota, but we can feel it coming. Come to think of it, there were fewer caterpillars this year. But Caterpillars are everywhere.
Hey, anybody want to send some snow to Denver? We’re just two days short of breaking an 1880s record for days without snow, and we’re getting mighty parched.
I.Don’t.Want.To.Remember!! ;-0 But last week my guy put the orange sticks in the ground around our driveway so the plows don’t dig into our lawn. Sigh.
As a kid, I loved playing in the snow. It’s much different when we’re not driving, and our young bones tend to be more tolerant of cold. It rarely snows where we live now. I suspect it would seem less fun to me now.
Oh Boy

Winter is like a guest that overstays their welcome. No matter how much you love them, at some point, you can’t wait for them to leave.

It really does feel like the longest season around here, Beth. Considering it’s laid claim and it doesn’t officially start for three more weeks …

Late Fall can sure seem like winter. Here, it’s wet and stormy. But it’s been unseasonably warm. Weird.

Days grow longer in winter. It’s autumn—when days grow shorter—that get to me.

Although we in Valencia do not have a real problem with snow, but after spending many winters in New York, I understand exactly what you mean…
