brilliant pitch on our local townie site:
FREE SNOW SHOVELING CLASS: This Thursday Feb 3rd, I will be holding a FREE snow shoveling class at my place. Come and join the class and learn about the proper ways to shovel!
Reviewed techniques will include the scoop and throw method, the down and push method (AKA the plow technique) as well as the upside down scraping technique.
Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity to enhance your snow lifting techniques without throwing your back out! I will provide the driveway to ensure your training is conducted in the most life-like situation. I only ask that you bring your own shovel.
PM me for additional details and times. Spots are limited and handled on a first come first served basis. Hurry, don’t delay!
as always, i loved the responses and they did not disappoint:
Is this for credit or just a certificate program???
Is this one of those Huckleberry Finn/ Tom Sawyer type classes where you have us shovel for you??
Now That’s What I Call marketing baby! Makes me want to get a shovel and throw on the parka and Boots!
Yes my place as well for the master class!
After can we repaint the fence?
You stole my idea!!!!
Now, why didn’t I think of that!!
Best AAT snow post EVER!

This is brilliant! I would like to host a class for carrying trash to the dumpster and also one for washing cars! If the weather is inclement, I could offer classes on wall washing and shower wall scrubbing and polishing, and I can probably think of more. I’ll provide all of the tools and equipment needed, participants provide energy and muscle!

I can imagine teeny tiny silver shovels hanging on a charm bracelet. You get a different one for each new shoveling experience. 🙂
Or maybe shovel cuff links or tie tacks or earrings.

Luckily, there is no snow in Beetley yet. If it snows, I may steal that idea!
Best wishes, Pete.

Samuel Clemens would be proud. My standard line to guys who show up to do something at our house: “I love work! I could watch it all day.” I really like being retired.

Hilarious responses all…love the “painting the fence” line….for those who are suffering through the snow and storms, hope your house is warm, your refrigerator stocked, and your driveway clear!

Reminds me of a day last winter when two neighbor ladies showed up to help me shovel. They quickly turned it into Susan’s aerobic fitness class where I was designated the instructor, not allowed to actually participate.

Creatively brilliant. I love love love this! Coming from someone who needs no lessons in shoveling snow. Randy and I recently observed a new neighbor shoveling snow. We laughed. No idea where she moved here from, but she needs to sign up for that class in Michigan.

I love this sense of humor. Don’t forget to read the fine print. Participants won’t receive their official shovel license until putting in at least 25 hours of on-the-job training.

ah, we want fully trained shovelers before we put them out there alone of course, like driver’s ed
