dad’s denim days.

Standard

not my dad, but similar to his 70s denim suit that really made a bold statement

happy birthday to my dad, no longer with us, but whose sense of style remains.

  1. We do remember the strangest (well not really – maybe different) things about our dads that maybe no one else does.
My father was a col in the army and or course looked very spiffy in his uniform. But I remember him best in his work coveralls down in the basement where he did his woodworking projects. I loved making little roads in the sawdust. 🙂

  2. Cheers to our dads’ styles past, Beth. Denim never goes off the racks, I say. Sadly I must report that I somehow followed my father’s cue to a leisure suit jacket when I was young and impressionable. That imprint did not last long in my lineup … nor in the stores!

  3. I didn’t own a pair of jeans until 1990, when I was 38 years old. I bought them to wear when riding a motorcycle in London, to protect my legs if I had an accident. Until then, I had never considered them to be smart enough. I only ever thought of them as ‘workwear’.
I haven’t owned any since the year 2000, even though I am hardly very smartly dressed these days.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  4. Denim forever! I grew up in blue jeans, was devastated when the school said girls couldn’t wear them anymore. But my dad was a doctor. I don’t recall that he ever wore denim, although I’ve no recollection of what he did wear on days off.
