  1. Can’t read the details but I am sure we did ONLY play games being on the ‘dangerous/forbidden’ list. And are here to tell the tales 😀
Shortly before my mum died, I told her that I took my younger sister on her roller blades, and me on an old bicycle to which young sis held on- to the village where my granny lived. But we never went to see her because we were strictly forbidden to leave the estate. Granny lived some 15km from home and we had to cross unprotected railway lines…. I hope I didn’t speed up her death, I now come to think of!

  2. My husband and I talk about this occasionally, how we managed to survive “dangerous” playgrounds and lots of other “dangerous” activities, especially as farm kids. We have some scars. But we made it. Many safety improvements have been good, like bike helmets, etc. But sometimes I feel like parents are “too protective,” worrying about every little thing. That said, as a grandma I find myself being more cautious with the grandkids than my own kids because I don’t want anything to happen to them on my watch.
