trying to piece the world back together
Warehouse giant Costco likes to do everything big, from super-sized bottles of ketchup to barrels full of Jack Daniel’s whiskey. Their latest exclusive offering: A jigsaw puzzle with 60,000 pieces that may take up an entire room when it’s finished.
The sprawling What a Wonderful World puzzle is actually 60 interconnected 1000-piece puzzles to make assembly (somewhat) feasible. Each features a painting from the Dowdle Art Studio of a fascinating landmark from different parts of the world, including The Great Wall of China and The Eiffel Tower.
Once each section is completed, it can be connected to the larger canvas. When finished, the puzzle measures 8 feet tall and 29 feet wide. An included legend helps you keep track of which puzzle goes where in the literal bigger picture of things. Costco has declared it the world’s largest jigsaw puzzle, and that’s likely to be true. The What a Wonderful World puzzle retails for $599.

don’t kill yourself trying to put it back together.
just grab a fork and eat some of it off the floor. then carry on.”

Why do I sense this is the type of puzzle you put together only once? I mean after the commitment of time to complete it, who would ever take it apart again? A real challenge for even the most prolific puzzlers. Great post!

your answer reminds me of a puzzle I only did once and never wanted to see again. I’ll write about the experience in a post. thanks!

WOW! That;s a wild, crazy and probably fun thing to start. But how long does it take to put together?

I would have adored that when I was young, but couldn’t have afforded $599. I bet it looks amazing when it is completed and mounted on a wall.
Best wishes, Pete.

I think we should call this a gymnasium-sized puzzle, which is only right to fit in the whole, wide world, Beth.

Absolutely amazing, if only I had the space! I’m in total agreement with Elizabeth Gilbert.

Constitutional Amendment: In order to hold office one must work with all other contestants to put the puzzle together or at least have a plan to put the world back together.

Probably takes a year to finish! 🙂

I agree with Pete about mounting it on a wall once completed. Of course, that’s only if you have a wall that’s 29 feet wide! At least it can be done in sections – I can’t imagine having 60,000 pieces in front of me waiting for me to choose one!

If it was 300 pieces and i could finish it in a couple of hours, then okay. But anymore than that, and too much of my life would pass by sitting on the floor. LOLOLOL OMG…not in a million years.

Great quote. But the puzzle, nope, no way, not me, not in a million years. And as others have noted, I’d need a bigger house.

My question is, who has that much floor space because it is something that I would want to see whole.

Lots of puzzle experience here. I usually had an ongoing one in my classroom as an option for those who had finished their work early. I’ve converted to online jigsaw puzzles in the past few years. The pieces aren’t so small, and I don’t have to guess whether two attached pieces fit or not. It also makes this satisfying sound when two pieces snap together.
