saw these geese in the middle of the railroad tracks
with a lot of corn spread around
they seemed to have no intention
of leaving this lucky buffet
even though it was located
right in the middle of the train tracks
and continued on down the tracks for a bit
when i mentioned
that i thought someone was setting them up
for an early demise
it was roundly agreed that the corn probably just fell off of a train.
never occurred to me.
maybe i should stop reading and watching so much true crime.
maybe why i’m not a detective.

I have seen photos from the 20’s and 30’s that are very similar, except it is people on the tracks gathering spilled coal for their furnaces.

I hope those ducks/geese get enough to eat before they hear or feel any trains coming. I guess the tracks do stay clear of snow and ice.

It was a fair assumption, but I think they would have flown off before a train hit them.
Best wishes, Pete.

My mind still goes first to your deduction, Beth. It’s more likely the work of a corn-spreader than a corn-oops!

Seems like you’ve been taking a gander at too much true crime. Maybe you should duck that for a while.

The cynic in me would agree that it was an intentional act, not a random fact.

I love the conspiracy theory – although I’d worry about what would be left after the train sped by!

Hard to say about intent, if there was intent. How would corn falling off a train end up between the tracks?

Our geese love to roam around town during the day. The grocery store, the bank…no place is off limits in search of a new meal. We co-exist in peace, although sometimes they can hold up traffic for a spell. We just honk…

It’s hard for our minds to NOT go to the possibility of evil intent in today’s society. I do like to prefer to think it was a dropped bag…

To be honest, it was my first guess that someone may have spread it there to kill the geese. Thank you for making me aware that not always there are bad intentions behind happenings.

I am with you on that – the more I read and watch the news the more paranoid I get.
Someone is definitely trying to kills those geese. They can be a nuisance – Not that I want them gone 😦
Blessings!

As you know I’m rather fond of ducks, and of food so I think the best idea is to stop all trains until they’ve finished their snack!!
