august is national peach month

‘peaches’
was my nickname
as a young child
which
i’ve happily
reclaimed
as a grandmother.
it feels like a perfect fit.
i’m celebrating
all month
and beyond.
Peach Blueberry Fruit Salad with Honey-Lime Dressing.
• 1 cup blueberries
• 2 peaches
• Juice from 1 lime
• 3 Tbsp honey
• Fresh mint leaves
Directions: Wash the blueberries and peaches. Cut the peaches into wedges. Arrange the blueberries and slices of peaches on a platter. Mix the lime juice and honey and drizzle over the fruit. Add fresh mint leaves, sliced thin or whole, and toss everything together. Enjoy.

sunrise paints the sky with pinks
and the sunset with peaches.
Cool to warm.
so is the progression from childhood to old age.

I’ve always loved a nice warm and ripe peach and as a youngish man, hitching through southern Europe, I used to walk past peach trees, pluck a ripened fruit off it, tear away the skin and then taste paradise. I’ve never been able to do that again, but I’ve never forgotten what a great experience it was.

A real person with nickname Peaches! Cute (thought it only happened in books)
Summer is the lovely smell of fresh peaches – we’ll let it linger a bit longer for that

I love peaches, the fruit and the name. Have you ever steamed ripe peach slices and served them with cinnamon? They are delish. . .

Besides the delight of eating a peach from the tree, I love canned peaches with lashings of Carnation evaporated milk on them. Oh and peaches suits you beth. 🙂

Peaches is a lovely name, Beth. When I was a teen, some of my friends called me “Rebel.” I got a kick out of that.
What a lovely way to celebrate August. I have a recipe for chicken that calls for peaches and blueberries. Oh joy! so wonderful. 😉

I agree with George up there on the comments thread. It looks beautiful, but now that it’s turned it into a work of art, I’m not sure how I’d feel about eating it. Let me lick this Rembrandt a couple of times to make sure.
Peaches is a lovely nickname, by the way. My uncle’s nickname for me as a young child was “Smiler” — but then I started school.

A perfect way to incorporate childhood memories with being a grandmother of children, Beth. Also, love yhe salad and tie in with September’s Grandparents Day. The quote I simple adored was Vera Nazarian’s. ♡
