here comes the snow, tiptoeing in –
the beginning of a very long season ahead

“i’ve always loved the first day of school better than the last day of school.
firsts are best because they are beginnings. “

*artist’s comments: this painting is from my imagination of an old white schoolhouse in a quiet county setting. these old schoolhouses once dotted the countryside, close enough for children to walk to in most weather.
the little ones came to school
most for the first time ever
filling our room with emotion and energy
a few minutes into our day
one had me write
an urgent note to her mom
that read:
“bring the car!”
we’re all tired and mostly all happy
tomorrow we begin again.
