partly cloudies.

when walking by the river

“today is one of those excellent january partly cloudies

in which light chooses an unexpected part of the landscape to trick out in gilt,

and then the shadow sweeps it away.

you know you’re alive. you take huge steps,

trying to feel the planet’s roundness arc between your feet.”

huron river, argo park, ann arbor, mi, usa – january 2023

the magic is back.

the first fall of snow is not only an event, it is a magical event.

you go to bed in one kind of a world and wake up

in another quite different,

and if this is not enchantment then where is it to be found?
