I always miss the last day of December changing into the first day of January: New Year’s Eve. But always look to enjoy January first as it’s my son’s birthday. He’ll be 40 this year.
I mentioned to my dear wife Karen how light it was so late last night, Beth, and I’ll be sure to do that again tonight. So we don’t dare miss the solstice!
And today is the first day it’s been extremely overcast. LOL And I don’t want to think about the fact that the countdown to winter begins…blah…I’d like the longest day to last…well…a lot longer.
love it…when I first moved to OR, I was amazed to find that in July the sun is out until almost 10 pm, and it can get over 100 degrees, often, actually…
Happy Official Summer!

It’s hard to miss because we are waiting for the weather to start cooling down from now onwards.

we had the shortest day of the year today, Beth , and I did not miss it: I even wrote a poem in honor of it called ‘On the Shortest Day’ 🙂

excellent and you’re on your way back to the longer days beginning tomorrow

that is so true: that is what we remind ourselves over the next few days to bolster our spirits 🙂

Happy first day of summer, and one of my favorite days of the year! Is that your photo at the top? If so, what a wonderful shot…

no, just a public google image, but it was to show a shot of catching it at just the last second, as this longest day was ending )

it’s a great photo. But like Barb mentioned, the day also comes with a bit of sadness as each day now starts to get shorter…

it does, unless you look at it as one step closer to next year’s summer solstice )

After a week with three 100˚ days, our first day of summer is predicted to be just 72˚. Go figure.

Although I have not missed it the thick thunderstorm clouds are making the day shorter this evening than it is supposed to be.

This happens to me with other things. It seems the anticipation builds so much that you can actually miss what you were waiting for…
