pi3 = pizza, pickles and pineapple.

Standard

digiorno is dropping a pizza topped with both pineapple and pickle in an effort to enrage the entire internet. which side are you on?

According to a statement provided to Food & Wine, the pizza is made with “a hand-tossed crust, with those all-important toppings. While we’d love to say we all get to try it, we can’t. Because DiGiorno knows this is just too explosive for a true mass-market release.

Instead, DiGiorno will give people the chance to snag one frozen pizza for free at shopdigiorno.goodnes.com via weekly drops. But please note that the website will not go live until September 5, so bookmark the URL for future use.

The pies will be limited to one per person, only available while supplies last, and shipping will only be available within the United States. We are very sure these pickle and pineapple frozen pizzas will go quickly.

  1. I would eat a pickle pizza. I find pineapple on pizza too sweet, but my wife quite likes a ham and pineapple pizza, called a ‘Hawaiian’ here. (Though these days she almost never eats pizza of any kind.)
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. Pineapple and ham on the Hawaiian pizza has been OK with me for a good, long while, Beth, although I know many pizza snobs say No No No. Pickles, though, I will refuse for my pizza pie, keeping them on my burgers and for pastrami sandwich sides.

  3. I don’t adore pineapple on pizza (though I do get the sweet and salty thing and since I do like pineapple with my ham, I’d be a hypocrite to completely diss it). That said, I love pickles and do not see any harm here. I’d try it!

  4. Um I wouldn’t eat a pickle and pineapple pizza if they PAID me. Well, maybe for $1,000, but nothing less. I order pizza with fresh spinach on it every time. The woman who answers the pizza place phone always laughs as soon as I say “add spinach and roasted red peppers, please.” She says, “I know who you are!” I guess very few people ask for spinach on their pizza. I can’t figure that one out at all.

  5. I used to love pineapples on my pizza when I was a teenager or young adult. I have not had it in ages and especially, since my middle one told me what a “no go” that was… lol… but I never had pickles on a pizza. Maybe they should not call it “pizza” and it would work out for the masses.

  6. At first sound, it doesn’t sound that appealing to me, but I’ll try anything once. There have been plenty of occasions when I’ve been pleasantly surprised.

  7. Ah, I like spinach, mushroom, artichoke, different cheeses and black olives. 🙂 When you think about it, I guess the pickles might be okay, since pizza is just dough, cheese and tomatoes, so it’s the same as a kind of sandwich, and we like pickles on those. LOL
