“my daughter said, ‘why are you yelling at us?’ and i said, ‘i’m trying to discipline you!’
and then she looked up at me with her tear-stained eyes and said,
‘this is how you teach children, by making them cry.’
and it was such a clenching reminder —
she won not only the argument, but she won life with that statement.
i just burst out laughing, and i think they were so surprised that i burst out laughing, that they did too.”

An excellent quote that I had never seen before. As I never had children, Father’s Day is just a Sunday to me.
Best wishes, Pete.

I’ve forwarded this to my friend who does training for people working with children who feels very similarly to the child in this quote.

On the reverse side of the coin: When my youngest granddaughter was having a tantrum, I tried to console her and she defiantly screamed out the accusation: “You are just trying to make me feel better.” I was taken aback but finally admitted, “Yes, that is exactly what I am trying to do.”
